Executive Short Course- Principles of Lean Thinking

Introduction
Enhanced and improved, this 10 day course (delivered in two blocks of 5 days) covers the fundamentals of lean thinking, structured around core 'lean principles'. It provides an in-depth appreciation of the lean philosophy and principles and good working knowledge of key lean implementation tools. Participants should gain a deeper understanding of the issues from networking with experienced researchers, practitioners and fellow lean-minded participants. It is delivered by LERC's experienced research and teaching staff, as well as LERC associates. The delivery approach is varied, with a focus on participation, discussion, interaction - the latter through the use of case studies, exercises, simulations. The course is built around the notion that lean thinking is about 'purpose + process + people' (ref Womack, Hines) and the course topics relate to these themes.
Suitability
The course is suitable for managers in operations, production, logistics and supply chain roles with some prior knowledge and experience of lean. It is suitable for those involved with developing and implementing lean oriented strategies and programmes and has a manufacturing bias, though it can be suitable for those in other sectors who are able to 'translate' principles and techniques to their particular context.
