Continuous Improvement & Leadership Course
Leadership in CI Pilot Success
October 2011
LERC's newly developed course that focuses on leadership in continuous improvement was recently piloted at Yeo Valley's Blagon Dairy wit
h a group of managers in their Better Than Ever team.
Joining LERC's Pauline Found in delivering the course was Lynne Oliver, from the Pacific Institute and Richard Harrison, a LERC associate. The course combines cutting-edge thinking on leadership, policy deployment and organisational culture and change. Steve Welch, Group Continuous Improvement and Yogurt Manufacturing Manager explained that the course focussed on 'getting the right behaviour and values and moving from good to great.'
Lynne Oliver explained that each day we have over 50,000 conversations with ourselves in our heads. This "self-talk" can often focus on negative things, but training yourself to re-frame your conversations to focus on the positives can have very powerful outcomes. This was backed up by Richard Harrison, a Master Practiti
oner of Neuro-Liguistic-Programming who demonstrated the power of using all of our senses when setting goals and creating a vision for the future. In business or in our personal lives, the more engaging and vivid our vision of the future is, the more we become dissatisfied with the current state and want to our vision become reality.
The course looked at the ways that Leaders can use these techniques to move their teams away from defensive cultures towards more positive, constructive ones. The group that attended the course included representatives from many of our sites across many disciplines showing just how far the BETTER THAN EVER program has already reached.
Paul Kennedy, HR Manager, Blagdon said: 'we feel privileged to be part of this interactive course, particularly as we are the first to experience it.'
